Wow, fuck me, what a year. 2020; a year I’ll never forget, unfortunately. We’ve all had drama this year and mine hasn’t been all that bad to be honest (no one close to me has died (does Maradona count?) and I’ve spent lockdown in a Mediterranean tax haven with my beautiful soul bond and our cat) but it’s still been fucking weird. To give a short recap on the events of the last 18 months leading up to this point:
- I escaped a violently, sexually and financially abusive relationship with just three days worth of clothes and my passport because my abuser told me she was going to kill me and I believed her. More of that here.
- I then bounced between four countries changing jobs and trying to make sense out of life
- Whilst this was going on I committed to an AoS tournament (despite not having an army or any hobby stuff any more) and bought and built 1,000 of Beastclaw Raiders. You can read about that here
- Then, as part of the process of leaving my abuser she compromised my friendly relationships so I didn’t go to that tournament and don’t actually have a gaming group any more. That’s the bit that sucks the most.

So what?
Great question. Well I’ve been having fun building up my hobby supplies slowly and painting some pretty cool minis and trying new techniques. The montage looks like this:
I’ve also been building a Revell model kit that my children gave me for Xmas about three years ago. I won’t stress these in this blog too much but I really enjoyed this and I think this is something I’ll do again every now and then.
But really, so what?
Right, well this blog was meant to be all about building new armies and playing tournaments with them. In the 2.5 years (Jesus fucking Christ has it been that long?? I’ve just had to check four times!) that TEH has been running I’ve built one new army and taken it to one tournament. And that was in year one. As I decompress from life, it’s time to move this on. I’ve been messing about with some UnderWorlds models for a while but Ii just can’t get into them. So, in essence, the Beastclaw Raiders (or, rather, the Ogor Mawtribes as they’re now called) are COMING BACK TO THE TABLE!!
